Breaking out of the Giro
The Giro d'Italia wasn't on Adam Hansen's schedule for 2007. In fact, there were no Grand Tours on the Australian's radar when he donned the magenta jersey for the first time this season, but that changed quickly when the Giro's route was announced.

Proving the pundits wrong
Many people doubted his chances of winning the Giro, believing that 2005's near podium finish was more chance than anything else and that 2006 showed he could not contend in the Italian three-week race. Instead, like the Classics before, he came back to prove the 'pundits' wrong.

When we last spoke to Dario it was on the rest day; he told us that he was planning an attack on one of the two transition stages. Instead he 'went for it' on the day the stage finished on the mighty Zoncolan, defying the GC guys and only succumbing as the final dice were tossed.
