Klaas Vantornout heeft dit jaar de grote stap voorwaarts gemaakt naar de wereldtop van het veldrijden met zijn tweede plaats in het eindklassement van de superprestige. De man uit Torhout streed tot op de laatste manche in Vorselaar mee voor de eindzege, maar moest de duimen leggen voor Sven Nys.
