Zdenek Stybar - Styby voor de vrienden - zette dit jaar al twee A-crossen op zijn naam. In Harderwijk liet hij Nederlands kampioen Gerben de Knegt achter zich. In Ardooie rekende hij af met teammaats Erwin Vervecken, Klaas Vantornout en Bart Wellens.

In zijn eentje zal Zdenek Stybar (20) de Belgische hegemonie in het veldrijden niet kunnen doorbreken. Maar dat hij in de toekomst een bijzonder gevaarlijke klant wordt, staat buiten kijf.
