Is a legend in American cycling, and a rare testament to the work-bike-life balance. This summer in Rio, she won her third Olympic Gold Medal in the Time Trial— becoming the first cyclist of any gender or nationality to win three successive Olympic gold medals in the same event. Bicycling caught up with her a month after the games to talk about victory, family, and the state of women’s racing.

Kristin Armstrong is in Los Angeles participating in the LA Track Word Cup this weekend. She narrowly missed the chance to ride for a individual pursuit medal after qualifying fifth, just one-hundredth of a second off the pace of two-time world pursuit champion Sarah Hammer.

Kristin Armstrong starts 2006 with a lot of changes. For the first time in her professional career she has switched teams, and looking ahead to Beijing 2008, there's a few other changes in store.
