During his five year career Cozza had some impressive results. In 2005 he took a victory at U.S U-23 National Time Trial Championships. During his first year with Vaughter's team (2007), Cozza won the Best Young Rider's Classification at the Tour of Missouri, the team also took the Team Classification

A new year, a new team and a new opportunity for Steven Cozza. After many years with Garmin, Steven has moved to Team NetApp for the 2011 racing season. We recently got the chance to ask Steven a few questions about racing, life, and giving back.

Steven Cozza joined Jonathan Vaughter's development team TIIA Cref in 2006 and stayed with the team through its evolution from - Slipstream-Chipotle (2007-08) to ProTour outfit Garmin-Slipstream 2009 and Garmin-Transitions 2010. This year, however, he has signed for Div II team NetApp.

Steve Cozza has been with Garmin since 2006 and still had one year of his contract to run, but the NetApp opportunity, coupled with the sudden and unexpected influx of riders into Garmin from the defunct Cervelo Test Team, means the man from Petaluma is off across the Atlantic for 2011.

Being at the race Paris - Bourges last Thursday we took the chance to talk to Steven Cozza who'll be joining Team NetApp in 2011, when he stepped out of the race, after being in a break with our rider Jan Barta right from the start of the race until the buffet.

Despite a contract which runs through to the end of 2011, the 25 year-old from Petaluma, California has taken the brave decision to leave the Pro Tour and go down to the Pro Continental level. We thought we should ask him why.

Steven Cozza had a front-row seat for his debut at Paris-Roubaix on Sunday. The 24-year-old bolted into the day’s main breakaway and then led the move across the famous Arenberg cobblestone section. Luckily, he wasn’t seriously injured in a late-race crash and was able to finish the race.

At just 23 years old, Steven Cozza faced adversity in 2007 when he sustained a serious head injury after crashing in the rainy Stage 3 at the Tour de Picardie. This season saw him sidelined with a broken collarbone he got at the Three Days of De Panne, but he is back on the bike at the Tour de Nez.
