Since his return to the North American racing scene after years in Europe, BMC's Jeff Louder had come close many times to the top step on an NRC race in the past. Last week he succeeded, winning the 2008 Tour of Utah, overcoming a seven seconds deficit in the final short and flat time trial.

Utah native Jeff Louder (BMC) triumphed on the Queen Stage at the Tour of Utah, in front of an appreciative and supportive crowd. On the final climb of the brutal 98-mile (159 km) stage, Louder came out on top and moved up to second place on GC, a scant seven seconds behind Blake Cadwell.

For over a week, the BMC Racing Team lived and trained at altitude in the Utah Mountains, preparing themselves for the 2008 Tour of Utah. I caught up with Utah native and resident Jeff Louder and his teammate, Ian McKissick, prior to stage 2 to get their thoughts on altitude and the race.
