After 10 years of professional racing, Ivan Dominguez, nicknamed "The Cuban Missile" has called it quits, bringing a close to the career of one of the most accomplished Cuban cyclists of all time.

Born in Cuba in 1976, Ivan Dominguez started his foray into cycling when he was about 12 years old. Since that time, he has raced on the track and on the road. Though now strictly a road racer, he doesn’t rule out the possibility of representing the U.S at the next Olympics or Pan-Am Games.

Ivan Dominguez, 32, has been one of the most successful sprinters in North American racing for the past six years. After he defected from Cuba to the United States ten years ago he has risen through the ranks and next year will get his first shot at racing in Europe with the Rock Racing team.

The Cuban rider will start his third season with Toyota-United at the Tour of California. After winning last years seventh stage of the Californian stage race and three stages at the Tour of Missouri, Dominguez proved he is one of the men to watch for when it comes to a bunch sprint.
