There was much sadness amongst the PEZ Crew when we heard that Mark McNally didn’t have a contract for the 2019 season after being let go by Wanty-Gobert at the last minute. Where is he now? Ed Hood found out.

Mark McNally has had the dream of riding the Cobbled Classics since he was young lad in Liverpool, his European season started on Sunday in Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne, but he has an eye on the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix later in April. Mark recently told us about his progress towards the ‘Hell of the North’.

Le Britannique Mark McNally, Team Wanty Groupe Gobert, était dans l’échappée du jour hier sur le Tour du Qatar. Amateur de longs raids, le gars de Liverpool s’est encore donné à fond hier, histoire de montrer le maillot sachant que les locomotives des grosses écuries aller le reprendre dans le finau’importe, il s’en fiche et tentera le coup dès l’occasion lui sera donné, comme le guerrier qu’il est . Celui qui fut meilleur grimpeur du Tour Of Britain (Grande Bretagne) en 2014, vainqueur de la mi Aout en Bretagne en 2012, adepte du Kreiz Breizh de son ami Alain Baniel, nourrit de belles ambitions pour cette saison au sein du team Belge.

A 25 ans, le Britannique Mark McNally entame sa 7 ème année dans le peloton professionnel. Après avoir passé 5 ans au sein du team continental Irlandais An Post ChainReaction de Kurt Bogaerts et Sean Kelly, il est revenu dans son Angleterre natale au sein du Team continental Madison Genesis.

A 25 ans, le Britannique Mark McNally est depuis 4 ans au sein du team An Post Chainreaction , le vainqueur de la Mi-Aout en Bretagne 2011, 3 ème de la Melton Classic (l’équivalent de notre Tro Bro Léon en Bretagne) cette saison et un fidèle du Kreiz Breizh élites à Carhaix est un coureur complet. Sur le dernier Tour of Britain, il a été l’un des acteurs principaux, se permettant de participer aux longs raids dès les 3 premières étapes et raflant au passage le classement de la Montagne devant des coureurs comme Nicolas Roche, Bradley Wiggins ou Lopez Garcia tout de même. Be Celt l’a rencontré à la l’issue de la dernière étape de ce TOB 2014.

Liverpool’s Mark McNally finished the Mi-Août Bretonne tied on time with Norwegian rider Stian Remme but, due to his better finishes on the stages, Mark was awarded the winner’s jersey, giving his team AN Post-Sean Kelly a big boost ahead of some big races in the coming weeks.

Returning ‘home’ to the UK after five years in Belgium, Mark McNally (Madison Genesis) from Liverpool decided he needed a change and that’s what he’ll have in 2015 racing for Madison Genesis. The King of the Mountains in the Tour of Britain 2014 and also third in the CiCLE Classic in the same season, has raced for the same team in Belgium, An Post Sean Kelly, for five years.
