Speaking in the course of a BBC interview into the Team Sky TUE controversy, former professional rider Jonathan Tiernan-Locke has claimed that unnamed individuals working with the British team offered riders the controversial medication Tramadol at the 2012 world road race championships.

BANNED DEVON cycle racer Jonathan Tiernan-Locke has confirmed that he will build up his training regime this summer ahead of a planned comeback to racing on the UK circuit next season.

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke has revealed that he may not return to racing as a professional rider when his two-year ban for a UCI Biological Passport violation ends on December 31, 2015.

Tiernan Locke sadly won't be back to defend his Tour of Britain title in 2013, but below talks about his experiences of riding for Sky and the UCI World Tour level.

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke was one of the revelations of last season. Riding for Endura Racing, a Continental team, he won no less than four stage races: Tour Méditerranéen, Tour du Haut-Var, Tour Alsace and Tour of Britain. Thanks to this impressive results, he got selected for the World Championships, in Valkenburg, where he finished in 19th place, just five seconds behind the winner. Then, at the end of the season, before his 28th birthday, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke signed a contract with Sky until 2014.

Para que un equipo tenga éxito los componentes deben funcionar correctamente y desde el primero al último de los integrantes, todos deben cumplir con sus tareas por más insignificantes que estas sean. El ciclismo no es la excepción, y en el caso que nos atañe, el Team SKY, Froome, Urán o Porte son los que se llevan los lauros pero hay ciclistas que hacen el trabajo sucio y que muchas veces no son reconocidos por el aficionado. Jonathan Tiernan-Locke es uno de esos héroes anónimos que se encargan de que nada falte a sus capitanes, pero no por ello deben entrenar menos o tener menos capacidades, sino todo lo contrario.

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke es un ciclista británico que se hizo conocido para la mayoría durante el 2012 gracias a sus nueve victorias, entre ellas la General en el Tour du Haut Var, Tour del Mediterráneo, Tour de Alsacia y el Tour de su país.tiernanlocke Pero la historia de Locke es cuanto menos curiosa por lo trágica, puesto que cuando comenzaba a brillar como amateur en Francia y en la Selección Nacional sub 23, le fue diagnosticado el Virus de Epstein Bar, que lo obligó a dejar la actividad por tres años, motivo por el que decidió acudir a la Universidad. El simpático corredor de SKY no llegó a graduarse, pero retomó el ciclismo, en el que siguió encontrando palos en la rueda, ya que un caballo lo pateó durante una carrera provocándole diversas lesiones.

Jon Tiernan-Locke made a big splash this year by winning a few French early season classics including the Tour of the Med and is in the process of finalising a contract with a World Tour team for 2013 which all helps to add to the motivation to do well in this year’s Tour of Britain.

His goal prior to 2012 was to win a UCI stage race and in two weeks, he’s won two, the Tour of the Med and Haut Var. In March, Jon races the three stage Tour of Mercia which has two mountain stages and a flat time trial and that for sure, will provide Jon with a fresh chance of showing what he can do after the success in France. A Spanish website, Biciciclismo, had a small item on Jon and their words summed up many people’s feelings about the Plymouth rider’s start to the year … “No doubt, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke (Endura Racing) is the sensation of the season, at least in the French calendar”.

Anyone who thought that Englishman Jon Tiernan-Locke’s top six GC placing and King of the Mountains win in the 2011 Tour of Britain was a freak result had their eyes opened over the weekend when the 27 year-old from Plymouth won the first stage, fourth stage and GC in the Tour of the Mediterranean – a race dating back to 1974 and which boasts Eddy Merckx as one of its winners.

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke (26-02-1984), cerca de cumplir los 28 años, y tras dar la sorpresa al vencer dos etapas y la general del Tour Mediterráneo, es ahora mismo una de las sensaciones de la temporada. Afronta su primer año en el Endura Racing tras dos temporadas en el Rapha Condor, y ya se rumorea que su futuro está cerca del Team Sky. Con toda la temporada por delante y la sensación de que ha cumplido con un gran objetivo para el equipo, ganar, Tiernan-Locke buscará dejar de ser una sorpresa, para ser toda una confirmación en la presente temporada.

There's a sheer simplicity to the manner in which Jon Tiernan-Locke claimed overall victory in the Tour of the Mediterranean on Sunday. Lying third overall behind two sprinters, he just waited for the final climb of the race, then blasted away at the foot of it.

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke a fait sensation cette semaine sous le climat polaire du Tour Méditerranéen. Le Britannique d’Endura Racing s’est imposé, avec la manière, à deux reprises sur les routes hexagonales, chères à Lucien Aimar, raflant en prime le général. Inconnu il y a encore une semaine, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke a marqué les esprits des coureurs, organisateurs et spectateurs.
