At this point in time when versatile rider Evelyn Stevens has announced her cycling retirement (at the end of the 2016 season) it seems to be an appropriate idea to look back over her 7-years cycling career as well as asking her to point out some highlights, goals, future plans and mental strategies she has used during her successful career.

Evelyn Stevens (31) is a truly unique human being. A Dartmouth graduate and former Wall Street investment banker, Evelyn bought her first bike in 2008. Just one year later, she had given up her job, competed in the World Championships and signed for professional team Specialized Lululemon. We caught up with Evelyn, who this year will race for Boels Dolman to find out how somebody makes the transition from Wall Street to Pro Cyclist in such a short time. Safe to say, we are in complete awe!

In September 2009 Evelyn (Evie) Stevens rode her heart out in the World Road Championships in Mendrisio, Switzerland for the US team. After monster pulls at the front and hard work for her team, Stevens finished 15th overall, a stellar result for a racer who began competing in June 2008.

On July 5, 2009, Evelyn Stevens won the four-day, Fitchburg Longsjo Classic in Massachusetts, winning the NRC event ahead of seasoned vets like Jeannie Longo, who placed third, and Tina Pic, who won two stages.
