Scott Thwaites has served a long apprenticeship to get to the top tier of professional cycling – but, having joined WorldTour outfit Team Dimension Data this season, the Wharfedale rider is under no illusions as to how much he still has to learn.

The young Yorkshireman joined the Continental Endura Racing team in 2010, and followed when they merged with NetApp three years ago, turning professional in the process. Thwaites came agonisingly close to his first win last season and, with a new sponsor to support him, he’s ready to rectify that.



My 2014 goal is that elusive first Pro win.

The last time we spoke to NetApp-Endura’s Scott Thwaites was in the spring of 2013, just after he’d finished in fifth place in the Handzame Classic and seventh spot in le Samyn – both hard races in brutal conditions.

The 24 year old Classics rider and sprinter Scott Thwaites from Yorkshire, was part of Endura Racing before the team merged with NetApp to become Team NetApp-Endura in 2013. He comes from a triathlon background, likes hills as well as being in the breakaway, and is part of the classic division of Team NetApp-Endura. We asked him for his thoughts on the Tour de France which starts right at his doorstep this year.
