Dopo ben ventidue partecipazioni ai Grandi Giri - quattro Giri d’Italia, nove Tour de France e nove Vuelta di Spagna - nel suo palmares ci sono solo due vittorie di tappa in Spagna e l’irlandese vorrebbe qualcosa in più.

C’est officiel, l’Irlandais Nicolas Roche évoluera l’an prochain sous les couleurs de la formation Britannique Sky. Le coureur de 30 ans quitte donc l’équipe d’Alberto Contador, avec la ferme intention de continuer, de progresser, et de vivre « un nouveau challenge » avec les 4 nouveaux arrivés dont Fenn, Konig, Nordhaug Poels venus renforcer un team Sky ambitieux pour les grands tours prochains . Il a bien voulu répondre aux questions de notre correspondante Be Celt .

L’Irlandais Nicolas Roche (Tinkoff-Saxo) dispute actuellement le Tour of Britain. Hier, sur les pentes du mont Tumble, il a attaqué seul pour rejoindre l’Italien Zardini mais ce dernier l’avait finalement emporté sur l’Irlandais. Aujoutd’hui, sur Bristol, Roche a remis ça en ramenant un groupe sur le duo d’échappé. Au final, il paye ces efforts et termine 6 ème de l’étape et prend la 4ème place du général derrière l’étonnant jeune Belge Dylan Teuns de la BMC. Be Celt a interrogé Nicolas Roche à l’issue de la 4ème étape.
Notre travail porte ses fruits.

Nicolas Roche est présent aujourd’hui au Grand Prix de Plouay. L’Irlandais de la Tinkoff se prépare pour le « Tour of Britain » sur lequel il voudrait briller. C’est aussi l’occasion pour lui de rencontrer ses « Boys » Irlandais Daniel Stewart, Dylan Foley et Graham O’Brien qui roulent actuellement sous les couleurs de Hennebont Cyclisme.
Il nous reste 10 étapes pour nous montrer.

Hier, Nicolas Roche a bien tenté de partir seul pour remporter l’étape mais Peter Sagan n’a laissé aucune marge en faisant rouler son team Cannondale dans l’espoir de rafler sa première victoire. Il reste encore 10 étapes pour se montrer et s’imposer. Depuis l’abandon de son leader Alberto Contador, le team Tinkoff a changé ses objectifs.

Having improved from sixth to fifth on yesterday’s seventeenth stage of the Vuelta a España, Irish pro Nicolas Roche has vowed to keep battling in the race and to finish as high as possible when it ends in Madrid on Sunday.

Having won a stage and also led the Vuelta a España for a day, Nicolas Roche is currently experiencing his best Grand Tour performance to date.
The Irish rider had a quiet Tour de France, partly due to working for Alberto Contador and also because he was two kilos over his racing weight. Since then, though, he trained hard at an altitude camp in order to be in peak condition for the Vuelta.

A 29 ans, Nicolas Roche a pris une autre dimension sur cette Vuelta. Arrivé chez Saxo cette saison, il a épaulé son leader Alberto Contador dans le dernier Tour de France. Aujourd’hui, il montre ce qu’il peut faire en l’absence du patron : miser sur un podium lors de grands rendez-vous. L’Irlandais est à l’aise dans cette formation Saxo Bank sous l’égide de Bjarne Riis. Le coureur qui a débuté en 2005 chez Cofidis a beaucoup muri et est devenu un coureur de premier plan. Il y avait son père, le grand champion Stephen Roche et maintenant il faut compter sur un autre Roche. Le dernier Irlandais à avoir inscrit son nom sur la Vuelta était un certain Sean Kelly qui avait remporté l’épreuve en 1988. Fort de son fighting spirit, Nicolas Roche sera t il son successeur ? Au milieu de ses nombreuses sollicitations médiatiques, l’Irlandais nous a accordé quelques minutes.
Sería muy optimista decir que voy a defenderlo hasta Madrid.

Pocas horas antes su primo Daniel Martin se retiraba de la Vuelta a España por culpa de una caída. Durante los últimos años Dan parecía tener más talento que el hijo de Stephen. Pero después de muchos años a las puertas del éxito, Nicolas Roche se está consolidando en esta Vuelta como un corredor de primera nivel mundial: ganó la segunda etapa y ahora recoge el maillot rojo por delante de los grandes favoritos para la general.

"Délivrance". C'est le premier mot auquel a pensé, Nicolas Roche, dimanche, lorsqu'il lui a été demandé de commenter sa victoire lors de la deuxième étape de La Vuelta. Son premier succès sur un grand Tour (!). Souvent placé, l'Irlandais de la Saxo-Tinkoff n'avait jamais réussi à lever les bras sur une course de trois semaines. C'est désormais fait, à 29 ans. Son succès au sommet de l'Alto do Monte da Groba, l'ancien sociétaire de la formation Ag2r La Mondiale l'a construit dans le tout dernier kilomètre. Alors que les principaux favoris se marquaient, le fils de Stephen Roche est sorti avec trois autres outsiders, avant de les laisser sur place dans l'emballage final. Sourire aux lèvres, il a ensuite répondu aux questions des médias et journalistes.

He’s finished twelfth and fourteenth in the past and taken second and third on stages but, as the first stage of the Tour de France plays out on the rugged Corsican roads, Nicolas Roche has very different thoughts on his mind. Gone are ideas of personal ambition, of chasing results for himself; instead, an all for one mentality permeates, with Alberto Contador the undisputed chief.
For some it’s a step back for Roche, a rider who has been knocking on the door of a top ten finish and stage win in the race. However in taking a long term view, both he and his father Stephen Roche, the 1987 Tour de France victors, believe that he will develop more as a rider through the opportunity now to study one of the biggest winners in the sport.

Nicolas Roche is 28 years old. He has won one race in the last three years, a stage of the Tour of Beijing in 2011. Coming into the prime of his physical abilities, it seems it is now or never for Roche to fulfil his potential. He had been riding for French teams since he turned professional in 2004, but over the winter he made the move to Team Saxo-Tinkoff, a team with a more cosmopolitan feel.

Nicolas Roche a lancé, ce mercredi, sa saison avec le Tour Méditerranéen, une course d’une semaine où il aura à cœur de faire bonne impression d’entrée de jeu avec son nouveau maillot, celui de la Saxo-Tinkoff. Terminées la France et AG2R La Mondiale : le coureur irlandais a accepté à l’automne dernier de rejoindre la formation d’un certain Alberto Contador, pour « apprendre beaucoup de choses et progresser cette saison. » C’est donc naturellement que Velochrono l’a appelé pour faire le point avec lui.

Pas loin d’entrer dans les dix premiers à Paris, Nicolas Roche a réussi cette année le meilleur Tour de France de sa carrière. Pourtant, à l’image de toute son équipe, le coureur de la formation AG2R La Mondiale n’a pas pu remporter une étape et sauver un bilan collectif mitigé. Conscient de ses limites sur les chronos et en montagne, l’Irlandais a reconnu pour Velochrono avoir « tenté le tout pour le tout » pour inverser la tendance. Il va se rendre à présent aux Jeux Olympiques de Londres, sans se faire d’illusions quant à ses chances de médaille mais déterminé à faire la fin de saison à fond.

En plein stage en altitude dans les Alpes, du côté de La Toussuire, avec toute son équipe AG2R La Mondiale, l’Irlandais le plus Français du peloton ne lésine pas à la tâche actuellement. Et pour cause. Très discret voire trop discret depuis le début de la saison, Nicolas Roche espère bien faire parler de lui dans les semaines qui s’annoncent. A son programme, déjà conclure ce stage en altitude de La Toussuire qui se termine demain jeudi, avant de filer vendredi prochain au départ du Tour de Suisse. Et sans oublier et surtout le Tour de France puis la Vuelta sur lesquels « Nico » a quelques sérieux objectifs. A un mois donc, jour pour jour, du grand départ à Liège de la Grande-Boucle, Nicolas Roche s’est donc confié à Cyclism’Actu. Confiant et serein comme rarement on l’a vu depuis longtemps. De bon augure ? Entretien.

Sur ce Paris-Nice, premier grand rendez-vous de la saison pour le peloton, l’Irlandais Nicolas Roche, leader de la formation AG2R La Mondiale, espérait y faire bonne figure. Mais voilà, la bordure, le vent, la pluie, lors de la première étape, ce lundi, est venu contrarier tous ses plans et ambitions sur cette « Course au Soleil ». Un coup dur pour Nicolas Roche qui comptait faire oublier, en ce début de saison, une année 2011 compliquée. Pour Cyclism’Actu, le pensionnaire de l’équipe de Vincent Lavenu garde le moral et quelques intentions. Rien n’est totalement perdu pour l’Irlandais le plus Français du peloton. Si une bonne place au classement général semble compromise à l’arrivée à Nice dimanche, Nicolas Roche peut largement prétendre à une victoire d’étape dans les jours à venir. Explications.

L'occasion pour Ag2r de fêter ses 20 ans de sponsoring dans le cyclisme mais aussi pour la rédaction de vélo-club de rencontrer certains acteurs de l'équipe managée par Vincent Lavenu.

El líder del Ag2r señala que se sintió decepcionado el año pasado pese a su meritorio decimocuarto puesto porque su objetivo era entrar entre los diez primeros, el mismo que se ha marcado para esta edición.

Nicolas Roche sera le leader designe de l’equipe AG2R La Mondiale avec Jean-Christophe Peraud pour ce Tour de France 2011. En manque de resultats depuis ce debut de saison, Nicolas Roche a connu pas mal d’ennuis de sante depuis cet hiver et n’a pour l’instant gagne aucune course cette annee.

Classé 23ème du Tour de France en 2009, 15ème en 2010, à 26 ans, Nicolas Roche est encore un coureur en devenir et ne cesse de progresser. Cette année, l'Irlandais dossard 101 aimerait rentrer dans les 10 premiers du classement général final à Paris.

Nicolas Roche finished a superb seventh overall in the Vuelta a España, ending the race just 5 minutes 5 seconds behind the winner Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas-Doimo). It was the highest Irish Grand Tour result since Sean Kelly was the outright victor in 1988.

Nel 2007 il Giro, nel 2008 la Vuelta, nel 2009 - con il passaggio all'AG2R La Mondiale - il debutto al Tour de France, con un secondo ed un terzo posto di tappa e il 22esimo posto nella classifica finale (ma a quasi 40' da Contador) e il sesto posto nella classifica della maglia verde.

Etre fils de.., n’est jamais facile. Que ce soit en sport ou dans toute autre activité ! Nicolas Roche a choisi de ne pas en tenir compte et de vivre sa passion. La même que celle de son père, Stéphane Roche, auteur en 1987 d’un triplé historique jamais plus réalisé depuis.

Nicolas Roche, fils de l'ancien vainqueur du Tour de France en 1987, Stephen Roche, s'est engagé pour les deux prochaines saisons avec l'équipe AG2R La Mondiale de Vincent Lavenu. A 24 ans, l'Irlandais quitte une formation Crédit Agricole qui disparaîtra du peloton la saison prochaine.

El hijo de Stephen es una de las revelaciones de la Vuelta. A pesar de que fue uno de los sorprendidos en la etapa de Suances, a sus 24 años está entre los quince primeros de la general y se muestra gratamente sorprendido del rendimiento que da en la alta montaña.

Il attendait le déclic. Et il est venu sur la Clasica Alcobendas. Deuxième de la 3e étape, Nicolas Roche est encore une fois passé tout près de la victoire. Mais peu importe la place, car quelques jours plus tard il levait les bras au Portugal, sur l’épreuve « Paredes Rota Dos Movéis ».

The 2005 peloton includes quite a few riders with famous family names. Axel Merckx, Frank Vandenbroucke, Kevin Van Impe and Hervé Duclos-Lassalle are some of those, and so too Nicolas Roche, son of the Irishman who in 1987 won the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and World road race championships in one season. Cyclingnews' Shane Stokes caught up with Roche after re-declaring for Ireland to get a verdict on 2005 and his plans for 2006.
