Mark and Mark, it’s a formidable pairing: Cavendish and Renshaw – they’ve been together on teams for a large portion of their respective careers. A sprinter and his lead-out man; friends, confidants, and room-mates at races, they understand each other on and off the bike.

It’s early October and for some pro cyclists, thoughts have already turned to the 2015 season. For some racing 2014 is still very much on in earnest. A whole new journey…

At the beginning of the 2011 season, we featured three riders from one team on the cover: Mark, Mark and Matt. Otherwise known as ‘Cav’, ‘Rendog’ and ‘Gossie’, the trio was part of a formidable sprint line-up in the final season of the Highroad team. The three went their separate ways: Cavendish to Sky (in 2012), then Omega Pharma-Quickstep (in 2013), Renshaw to Rabobank (which became Blanco, which became Belkin), and Goss to Orica-GreenEdge.

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Mark Renshaw. Not only for his talents on the bike that has brought us so many exciting moments, but he's also an extremely nice and humble bloke. When I speak with him I can tell that he's just as much of a fan of the sport as he is a rider within it. Here's a good profile interview with Mark Renshaw and the transition he'll be facing this year.

Mark Renshaw is the best leadout man in the business and Mark Cavendish gives no shortage of praise to Renshaw and the rest of his HTC-Columbia teammates for being instrumental to his wins. I caught up with Renshaw to learn exactly how HTC-Columbia’s leadout for the Manx Missile is executed.
