The second rest day can’t come quick enough for the Tour de France peloton, but it’s another work day for the riders with interviews and press conferences. Ed Hood took himself to the Fortuneo-Vital Concept team hotel to ‘have a word’ with sprinter Dan McLay to hear how his Tour has been going.

British sprinter Dan McLay will make his Tour de France debut this weekend, hunting for stage wins with French UCI ProContinental team Fortuneo-Vital Concept and the 24-year-old will take a fearless attitude into his first appearance in cycling’s greatest race.

A 24 ans, le Britannique Dan McLay est une valeur sûre du sprint de sa Majesté, un pur produit de la piste « made in UK » où il fut , par ailleurs, champion du Monde juniors de l’Américaine avec Simon Yates.
Mon but est de gagner et d’être sélectionné pour le Tour !

A 24 ans, le Britannique Dan McLay est une valeur sûre du sprint de sa Majesté, un pur produit de la piste « made in UK » où il fut , par ailleurs, champion du Monde juniors de l’Américaine avec Simon Yates. Depuis 2 ans avec le Team Breton il nous avait déjà confié à l’époque qu’il voulait rapidement en claquer.

Here at PEZ we have been following the career of Dan McLay since he first moved to Belgium in 2011, then in 2014 when riding for the Lotto Belisol Development team and again last year after turning Pro for the French Bretagne-Séché Environnement team. So when McLay won the GP Denain, Ed Hood had to get hold the New Zealand born sprinter.

A 24 ans, le Britannique Dan McLay (Fortunéo Vital-Concept) retrouve les classiques Belges qu’il affectionne particulièrement. Hier sur le GP Le Samyn, le puncheur-sprinter faisait parti de l’échappée gagnante sous des conditions climatiques dantesques. 12ème au final de cette belle épreuve et surtout acteur d’une belle course qui donne plus de confiance pour les prochaines classiques à venir pour le Briton du team Breton.

PEZ has been following the career of Dan McLay since he joined the Lotto development team back at the start of the 2011 season. Since then he has had a very successful amateur career in Belgium that carried him to a pro contract with the French Bretagne-Séché Environnement team. Now after his first year in the pro ranks, Ed Hood caught up with Dan to hear his thoughts on 2015.

At 22, British sprinter Daniel Mc Lay has signed for French pro team BretagneSéché Environnement on a two year contract. The team, who have also signed Raleigh’s Matthieu Boulo who was such a hit in Britain this season, has greatly expanded with the arrival of experienced riders like Yauhneni Hutarovich, Pierrick Fredrigo and Jonhatan Hivert

A 22 ans, le solide sprinter anglais Daniel Mc Lay vient de signer dans le team pro Bretagne Séché Environnement pour un contrat de 2 ans. Une équipe qui s’est fortement étoffée avec la venue de coureurs d’expérience comme Yauhneni Hutarovich, Pierrick Fredrigo, Johnathan Hivert ou Matthieu Boulo. Le jeune Dan McLay apprend à connaître ses nouveaux coéquipiers, à se familiariser avec la langue française. A l’image de son équipe, il nourrit de grandes ambitions pour la saison.

Il est l’un des grands espoirs du sprint Anglais,le jeune Daniel McLay (22 ans) vient de signer chez Bretagne Séché Environnement. Né en Nouvelle-Zélande, autre pays du sprint, il est devenu Champion du Royaume Unis sur piste dès l’âge de 16 ans. En juniors, il se classe 2ème de Paris Roubaix et devient Champion du Monde sur piste (Américaine) avec Simon Yates.

British young gun; Dan McLay has been hammering at the door of recognition in Belgium for a few years. But this season he has seen him add to his palmarés with the points jersey in Normandy and a stage win in the Tour de L’Avenir. Pro contract in ’15? Ed Hood caught up with Dan as he was about to start the Tour of Britain.

A 22 ans Daniel Mc Lay est un des meilleurs sprinters britanniques. Maillot vert du dernier Tour de Normandie, le coureur de la Lotto Belilsol U23 s’est offert une nouvelle victoire d’étape sur le Tour de l’Avenir. Il sera aligné sur le Tour de Grande Bretagne et tentera d’y décrocher une place pour le Mondial en Espagne.

Daniel McLay est l’un des espoirs du cyclisme britannique. Dernièrement, le jeune Anglais (22 ans) de Lotto Belisol U23, originaire de Leicester, a remporté la 3ème étape du Tour de Normandie et le maillot vert du classement par points. C’est un sprinter qui a remporté un titre de champion du Monde sur piste en 2010 dans l’épreuve du Madison (course à l’Américaine) avec Simon Yates mais qui aime aussi les classiques comme le prouve sa 2ème place sur Paris Roubaix juniors en 2010 .

Dwaars door Vlaanderen saw the re-birth of Nick Nuyens as winner. However, on the same day on similar roads, the U23 version of the race, the GP Waregem, saw a young Briton take an important step up the ladderwith an excellent win over the cream of Flanders' young cycling talent.

Dan McLay is already a World champion; he has experience on the track, cyclo-cross and the road at the highest junior level, now it’s time for him to crack the big time. He’s following in the footsteps of Adam Blythe into the Belgian World of the Davo team and the guiding hands of Tim and Jos!
