We knew that former Giro Top 4 and Italian TT Champion had signed for a new, high profile team, but the details weren't released, and he wasn't allowed to talk about it. We agreed to talk olives, but by the time we got to talking, the deal was official: the new team was Sky.

It was those Liquigas guys again – or should that be ‘Full-gas’ guys? Luca Paolini did what Magnus Backstedt and Dario have been saying he would do since the start and took a Vuelta stage.

One Way Ticket To Milano

pezcyclingnews.com, Edmond Hood, 29 May 2006

Just for a change we spoke to Dario in the morning, he didn't seem as relaxed as usual, but maybe the fact that he was climbing the Mortirlo that afternoon had something to do with it! For Dario and everyone not named Basso, the end of the Giro probably can't come soon enough.

Catria Catastrophe

pezcyclingnews.com, Edmond Hood, 16 May 2006
Posted by: lucybears

The thing about doing an interview with a rider is that there are two sides to the coin. If you like the man and have “connected” with him then you can’t help but share in the optimism and elation of a good day; on the days when it’s not going so well though, you can’t avoid the disappointment and hollowness.
