Etapa 5 del Tour de California 2017, primera vez en la que realmente muchos prestamos atención a Sepp Kuss. Ese día, la carrera llegó en alto al bestial Mount Baldy, y él finalizó 10mo. Claro está, no fuimos los únicos en tomar nota sobre su actuación…

Acabada la temporada, y en época de balances, destacan algunos nombres por sobre el resto. Y uno de esos es el de Sepp Kuss, casi sin excepción al lado de su jefe de filas en los momentos clave del reducido calendario. El norteamericano dio otro paso en su progresión y se antoja difícil pensar que Jumbo-Visma pueda seguir frenándolo mucho tiempo más, ya que incluso rindió por encima de gente como Tom Dumoulin, George Bennett o Steven Kruijswijk.

When Sepp Kuss won the Oak Glen stage at last year’s Redlands Classic — racing for an amateur team, and beating two former WorldTour pros — he didn’t entirely understand the significance of his victory. It was his first full season racing on the road and he hadn’t even signed a pro contract.
