Tomas has ridden for Johan Bruyneel’s teams for four years now and during this time I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen him without a smile on his face or a gleam in his eye as he contemplates playing a practical joke on a teammate.

I sat down with Tomas Vaitkus at team training camp in Santa Rosa on February 7, 2009 and we talked about his upcoming season, all prior to his injury while racing Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. We did a follow-up last weekend as he prepares to return to racing on Saturday in Milan-Sanremo.
