There was a familiar face toeing the line of a recent, local Oregon road race – Carl Decker (Giant) had made the trip to mix it up in Eugene-Roubaix. I took advantage of the opportunity to catch up with Decker and find out how his mountain bike season has been progressing.

Few current professional mountain-bike racers can say they raced in the first-ever UCI world mountain-bike championships, held in Durango back in 1990. Carl Decker can. The now-32-year-old Oregonian lined up in the junior ranks that year.

This MTB, CCX, Road and Rally Car racer is a well known nationally for both his cycling prowess and for being a really cool guy. Besides racing bikes, K-Man moles found out that the Deckerator has a longstanding love for cars.
