Now 28 years of age, he’s hoping that 2014 will be the season where he translates those showings into winning performances on the international stage. He’s motivated to achieve strong results in the months ahead, both as a goal in itself and also to ensure he’s got the best contract options at the end of the year.

Nicolas Roche, Philip Deignan and national road race champion Matt Brammeier will be in today’s Amstel Gold Race, making it the first time in two decades that so many Irish riders will take part in the Dutch Classic. Irishcycling.com spoke to him earlier this week....

Over on the Emerald Isle the talk on the morning of the 151 kilometre Elite road race championship at Sligo was of who would be third behind Pro Tour stars Dan Martin (Garmin) and Nicolas Roche (AG2R) – but the Belgian based AN Post team had other ideas.

Matt Brammeier's excellent late season Belgian results have paid dividends. Whilst many pros contemplate their future after failing to close a deal for 2009, Matt looks forward to a packed programme with the Belgian based, but Irish funded AN Post team.
