With all the "Monte's" he climbed to win the king of the mountains in the Giro; then the Jura, Alps and Pyrenees in the Tour, you'd be forgiven for thinking Omega Pharma Lotto's former Aussie champion, Matt Lloyd might have seen enough mountains for one year.

Matthew Lloyd got away from his breakaway partner, Rubens Bertogliati on the days' final climb and was able to stay clear to win the sixth stage of the Giro. Lloyd escaped on the ascent of the Bedizzano and rode the final 10.8 kilometers solo to claim his first-ever Grand Tour stage win.

Alla partenza da Amsterdam nessuno avrebbe immaginato che proprio i corridori australiani sarebbero stati i maggiori protagonisti del Giro. Sicuramente però anche per Matthew Lloyd la conquista della maglia verde di miglior scalatore ha qualcosa di sorprendente.

The newly crowned Australian champion Matthew Lloyd is about to embark on his second season in the ProTour ranks. After taking a surprise win in the nationals in a race he wasn't targetting, Lloyd is looking forward to bigger and better things in the upcoming season.
