David Zabriskie has had many successes in stage racing, including the rare accomplishment of stage wins in all three Grand Tours, successively no less, but it wasn't until his win at the Tour of Missouri last month that the American could add overall stage race victory to his name.

We recently caught up with Dave Zabriskie of the Garmin Slipstream team. Dave has won a lot of bike races in his 11-year pro career. Now he's also won a career-first stage race title with his win in the Tour of Missouri.

29-year-old Dave Zabriskie is currently recuperating and training in his native Salt Lake City, Utah, after crashing out of the Giro d'Italia. When he crashed, Zabriskie injured his L1 vertebrae and subsequently returned to the States to begin the long road to full recovery.

American pro cyclist Dave Zabriskie, who raced for US Postal and Team CSC, now races for the Garmin-Chipotle team. Known to be fairly guarded and succinct in his interviews, we managed to learn a little more about the fun-loving American who is a former roommate of Floyd Landis.

Dave Zabriskie was an integral part of Slipstream’s successful TTT squad in the Giro and was slated to ride the Tour de France, but after crashing hard and fracturing a vertebra his season plans, including the Tour, are now uncertain. (note - our email interview began before the Giro started)

When we last left Dave Zabriskie, it was after the cycling world had watched him experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows at the 2005 Tour de France. From Yellow to the tarmac, and eventually being forced to withdraw from injury, Dave has undoubtedly had one heck of a summer.
