Bart Wellens is one of the few riders on the Belgian National Team who knows what racing in the US is really like. He and teammate Rob Peeters have come over two years in a row for CrossVegas, and this season, they stayed for MFG in Seattle and left only after the first of the USGP series in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. When we sat down to talk to him, he had some of the most comprehensive views on racing in Europe versus the US, and we were excited to hear about what the key differences were, in his mind.

De renner van Telenet Fidea die er momenteel uit is met een cytomegalovirus, hoopt zo snel mogelijk weer te crossen. Wellens wist in zijn carrière twee keer wereldkampioen veldrijden te worden bij de profs.

Il portacolori del Team Fidea Cycling ha recentemente dichiarato di avere proprio i mondiali come obiettivo principale per la stagione 2007/2008, così da conquistare la quinta maglia iridata della sua carriera, dopo le due vinte tra gli U23 e le altre due tra gli Elite.

7,5 op 10: dat is volgens Bart Wellens (28) zijn voorlopig winterrapport. De tijd is voorbij dat hij de lat zó hoog legde dat hij onderuit ging. ,,De tijd dat ik mezelf opnaaide, is niet meer. Is Nys de beste, dan is dat zo. Maar ik ga het duel aan.''

Bart Wellens is momenteel actief voor het Fidea Team en behaalde op de laatste wereldbekercross nog een knappe 2e plaats.
