El navarro Egoi Martínez afronta su tercer Tour consecutivo, pero no lo hará con el maillot naranja del Euskaltel-Euskadi, sino que en 2006 defiende los colores del Discovery Channel. Egoi sabe que le va a tocar trabajar; no está Armstrong pero el conjunto estadounidense cuenta con cuatro bazas: Azevedo, Hincapie, Popovych y Savoldelli.
