Uitdagende Vuelta a España 2011

The nieuwe route van de Vuelta a España is onlangs bekend gemaakt. Verrassend is dat de Spanjaarden voor het eerst in dertig jaar het Baskenland aandoen! Diverse etappes spelen zich af in het noord-oosten en aan de Atlantische kust van noord-Spanje. De beklimming naar de alom gevreesde Anglirú maakt ook weer deel uit van de ronde.

Challenging Vuelta a España 2011

The route of the Vuelta a España has recently been released. A nice surprise is that the Spanish Tour will visit the Basque Country for the first time in thirty years! Several stages in the North-East and alongside the Atlantic Ocean are scheduled, the climb to the feared Anglirú also included in the Tour.

Rest UCI Pro-Conti teams nu ook bekend

De UCI heeft vandaag de overige licenties voor de Professional-Continental klasse bekend gemaakt. Naast de 16 teams die eerder deze week door CyclingFever werden onthuld, zijn er nu nog 7 teams toegevoegd aan de lijst. Daarmee komt het aantal teams voor 2011 op 23 Pro-Conti team, dat is twee meer dan het aantal in 2010.

British rider wins three years after final Tour de l’Aude despite continued problems. The race was won by Emma Pooley (Bigla), after the British rider took the victory on the hilly third stage, then consolidated her overall lead with second place in the penultimate day’s time trial. Despite her victory, Pooley pulled no punches as she confirmed that the race’s problems were far from solved after it finally did go ahead.

Il est assurément l’un des moins jeunes du peloton. A 39 ans, Stefano Garzelli est un vétéran du Giro d’Italia, qu’il avait remporté… il y a 13 ans ! Aujourd’hui, il vise avant tout un coup d’éclat sur une étape. Il n’en a d’ailleurs plus gagné depuis le Tour d’Italie 2010. En 2011, il avait néanmoins obtenu la victoire au classement final du grand prix de la montagne, mais l’année passée, l’équipe pour laquelle il courait depuis 2007, Acqua & Sapone, n’a pas été retenue pour disputer le Giro. En fin d’année, l’équipe est dissoute, cette non-sélection ayant probablement joué un rôle. Aujourd’hui enrôlé au sein d’une équipe Vini Fantini qui affiche un beau collectif, Stefano Garzelli attend son heure. Et pourquoi pas dès demain ?

Joaquín Sobrino Martínez 'Quecu' nació en Posada en junio de 1982 y es ciclista profesional desde el año 2007. Militó en los equipos Relax-Gam, Burgos Monumental y Caja Rural, y desde hace dos temporadas está enrolado en el conjunto griego Tableware. El pasado 9 de mayo ganaba la última etapa en la importante prueba conocida como 'Cinco anillos de Moscú' y saboreaba la victoria a escasos metros del Kremlin y de la Plaza Roja. A lo largo de su vida disputó y ganó carreras en cuatro continentes: Europa, Asia, África y América.

Per la nostra rubrica "I Volti Nuovi del Gruppo", abbiamo oggi con noi Andrea Ciacchini. Nato a Pisa il 26 giugno del 1990, è passato professionista quest'anno con il Team Novo Nordisk, formazione americana che annovera tra le sue fila solamente corridori affetti dal diabete. Il giovane toscano è uno dei tre italiani che fanno parte di questa squadra, nella quale praticamente milita da tre anni, avendo corso nelle sue giovanili, trasferendosi così per buona parte dell'anno negli Stati Uniti.
