In 15 partecipazioni al Giro, oltre a due successi, Simoni è stato capace di concludere altre 5 volte sul podio. La sua carriera si conclude con il Giro d'Italia 2010 corso , dove ottiene un secondo posto nel passaggio montano sulla Cima Coppi del Passo Gavia, la vetta più alta del Giro.
