Before the 2010 Tour de France, few people would have pegged Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Transitions) as a top-10 contender. But since the team's designated leader, Christian Vande Velde, was forced to abandon the Tour, the Victoria native has picked up the slack and then some.
