Generalmente poco conosciuto al pubblico italiano, Bobbie Traksel è invece molto popolare in Belgio e in Olanda. Nato il 3 novembre 1981 a Tiel, cittadina olandese situata a metà strada fra Utrecht e Nimega, Traksel ha esordito fra i professionisti nel 2001 con la Rabobank dopo aver vinto l'anno prima il Giro delle Fiandre riservato agli under 23
