Nicolas David est un Breton pur souche. Ayant fait ses gammes à Quimper, le Finistérien n'a quitté sa région natale « que » pendant deux ans, pour... la Vendée. Coureur complet, accrocheur, « guerrier » même, il a longtemps caressé le rêve de passer professionnel, sans y parvenir. La faute à une "progression un peu trop tardive".
