Des exemples de talent mal exploité, le cyclisme en compte un certain nombre. Robert Charpentier propose un peu l’archétype du coureur au potentiel gâché. Triple champion olympique à 20 ans, unanimement reconnu comme le plus bel athlète de sa génération, son palmarès ne rend pas justice à sa valeur. La faute à un tempérament qui est souvent venu télescoper les exigences du haut niveau. Rétrospective de la carrière de ce coureur aussi irritant qu’attachant.
