Tranquilo y con los objetivos claros, Santiago Botero asumió con responsabilidad la capitanía del equipo Une-Orbitel-2007. Enfrenta este nuevo reto con la nostalgia de no correr en Europa, las ganas de triunfar en su país, la preocupación porque los problemas que rodean al Pro Tour pueden acabar con el ciclismo y la ilusión de terminar su carrera con una medalla olímpica.
