Il giorno che Valerio Conti ha preso la maglia rosa, suo padre è sceso di sotto, al bar, e ha offerto da bere a tutti. Franco è stato un buon corridore, ha vinto il Giro dilettanti più di 40 anni fa. Suo fratello Noè vinse la Coppa Bernocchi nel ‘59. Fu lui a regalare la prima bici a Valerio, che aveva 13 anni e giocava (bene) a pallone, «però sentivo una cosa dentro, sarà il dna».
