De joven, Haimar Zubeldia (Usurbil, 31 años) tuteó a Armstrong en el Dauphiné, y estuvo con él y con Ullrich en el Tourmalet, durante el Tour 2003. Durante once temporadas fue corredor naranja, del Euskaltel-Euskadi. Ciclista tímido, sin casi victorias, sin apenas ataques.
