In the 2009 Tour of Britain one of the stars of the show was a young Belgian from the Topsport Vlaanderen team, Thomas De Gendt. He enlivened the race and won the sprints and mountains jerseys. Much was expected of the man from St. Niklaas in 2010; but the big results refused to come.
