"cycling is more than just July"
Last Sunday, Ryder Hesjedal finished his third Tour de France with an incredible seventh place overall and two fourth place stage results on some of the hardest days of the race. To put it into perspective - Ryder's finish is the best since Steve Bauer finished fourth in 1988.

"relief, simply relief"
This July, Canadians from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland and Labrador were increasingly transfixed by Ryder Hesjedal's exploits at the Tour de France. His 7th place was the second-highest Canadian finish ever at the Tour, behind the legendary Steve Bauer's 4th place in 1988.

"just another race; but the stakes are much higher and the riders more nervous"
Michael Barry has been a pro since 1998 and this year, when Team Sky were building their team to back Bradley Wiggins' Tour bid, it was on the Canadian's door they came knocking. We caught up with the softly spoken man from Toronto on the Tour's second rest day, at Pau.

Matthew Lloyd

'I could do with another week in the Pyrenees!'
With all the "Monte's" he climbed to win the king of the mountains in the Giro; then the Jura, Alps and Pyrenees in the Tour, you'd be forgiven for thinking Omega Pharma Lotto's former Aussie champion, Matt Lloyd might have seen enough mountains for one year.

"The team morale is still good"
Michael Barry is living his dream by competing at his first Tour de France, the world’s biggest bike race. While his team has not achieved their goals at this year’s Tour, morale is still high on the squad as they hope for a stage win and to keep improving the position of their top riders.

Ryder Hesjedal

22 Juillet 2010

"whatever happens in the next four days, it's still been a great race"
Before the 2010 Tour de France, few people would have pegged Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Transitions) as a top-10 contender. But since the team's designated leader, Christian Vande Velde, was forced to abandon the Tour, the Victoria native has picked up the slack and then some.

Nicolas Roche
irishcycling.com,

"I have to try to stick with the guys"
Currently fourteenth overall heading towards the final week of the Tour de France, Ireland’s Nicolas Roche believes that if he keeps climbing around his current level, that a top 15 overall finish is possible in Paris.

Ina-Yoko Teutenberg
cyclingtribe.com,

Daniel Lloyd
pezcyclingnews.com,

"it’s been a pretty stressful and tiring first nine days"
Dan Lloyd is hovering with video camera in hand as the press packs give Thor Hushovd a rest-day grilling, so what is the Tour de France newcomer up to? And just how is he finding life as a TdF debutant?
