"my only role was to stay there"
Here at PEZ, we love the team time trial; it encompasses the very best aspects of professional bike riding; spectacle, colour, speed, skill, selflessness and the ‘techie-est’ of bicycles. After stage 4 we thought we should talk to one of Garmin’s ‘fab five’ who were second only to the mighty Astana.

Charly Wegelius
pezcyclingnews.com, 7 Julio 2009
"being told I was riding the Tour de France added a twist to my day!"
Charly Wegelius wasn’t meant to be riding the Tour but due to a certain Mr Dekker’s “problems” back in his Rabobank days, the Englishman with the Finnish name got the call to arms. Right after stage 3 he took time to talk to Pez about weddings, stress, zoos, and, oh, yeah – Lance.

"I’d rather have this than rain!"
Those of you who were fans of the old Discovery Channel and CSC teams will know the name of Brian Bach Vandborg. Those of you who follow the World Championships will remember seeing his name go top five in the TT a few years ago, and then...injury and illness put the shackles on things.

Maxime Monfort
pezcyclingnews.com, 4 Julio 2009
"For us, it's actually just another race!"
One of the nicer guys in the pro peloton is Belgian star Maxime Monfort, a smart and erudite guy, whose journalistic background means he has a fuller understanding of the press pack's needs ... and maybe explains why he's so patient when confronted by a stream of hacks, myself included.

"I think I'm ready"
Once things had wrapped up at the SaxoBank press conference, Gustav Larsson was one of the guys who'd managed to slip out relatively unseen, giving a pretty laid back interview to Swedish radio ... but Pez was waiting and we grabbed a few words with the genial giant.
