John Herety was one of the ‘British Foreign Legion’ when he was a Continental pro. Along with Paul Sherwen, Graham Jones, Sean Yates and Robert Millar he led the way for many Brit riders through the famous ACBB. After Euro success John returned to race on home roads before moving into team management and more success. Ed Hood caught up with John for a chat over old times.

John Herety, 53 ans, n’est pas un inconnu dans le cyclisme français. En 1981, il courait en élite à l’ACBB (Boulogne Billancourt) et a remporté la « Paris Rouen » la même année avant de rejoindre l’équipe professionnelle Coop Mercier en 1982 auprès de Zoetemelk, Mentheour, Levavasseur, Vichot et Andersen. La même année il est devenu champion de Grande Bretagne. Sa carrière de coureur terminée, il est devenu manager et un détecteur de champions pour Rapha Condor JLT
