2019 has probably been UAE Team Emirates best season so far since the team hit the road at the start of 2017. Sprint wins form Fernando Gaviria and Alexander Kristoff's Gent-Wevelgem victory were high points, but the performance from young Slovenian Tadej Pogačar in Spain, California and the Algarve shows great promise for the future. The team are in the UAE at the moment and we caught up with their top four riders to hear about the 2019 season and look-forward to 2020.

The biggest challenge for Alexander Kristoff in 2019 will come from rival sprinter, and now new UAE teammate, Fernando Gaviria, who made a surprise move from Quick-Step Floors late in October.

The list of sprinters capable of scoring stage wins at the Tour de France and wins at the spring classics is a short one, and Alexander Kristoff always ranks high on this list of elite riders. With 56 pro wins to his name including Milan-San Remo (2014), two Tour de France stages (2014), and the Tour of Flanders (2015), the powerful Norwegian is no stranger to the podium. We had a chance to meet with Kristoff at the KATUSHA-ALPECIN team camp in Calpe, Spain where we learned among other things, that this fierce competitor and team captain is also a devoted family man who craves American food and loves the simple things in life.

His Tour of Flanders win has to be the high point and the man from Oslo wants more of the same this year. Alex gave PEZ the low-down on his success and his hopes for this year as he started his build-up for 2016.

2014: Spring Classics and the Tour de France.

If the UCI would still be running the old World Cup system, then Alexander Kristoff would have been in the top 10 at the end of the 2013 season, which says a lot about his consistency in the one-day races. The Katusha rider was 8th in Milan-Sanremo, 4th in the Tour of Flanders, 9th in Paris-Roubaix, and 3rd in the Vattenfall Cyclassics, but he wasn’t impressive only in the Classics, but also in the bunch sprints, scoring six wins and wearing the green jersey in the Tour de France, after he finished second in the inaugural stage.

I want to do one Grand Tour and some classics like Milano - San Remo

Alexander Kristoff is yet another future top rider coming out of Norway these years. His speed and characteristics gives him the perfect opportunities to become the next Norwegian top sprinter in the peloton. Coming from Joker - Bianchi to BMC this season, he will now join forces with Denis Galimzyanov at Katusha next year as a very strong and fast duo for the mass sprints.
