It seems just like yesterday we were asking James McCallum if he’d ever consider turning pro – but that was back in 2006 after his second Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal in the scratch race. The following year he did indeed turn professional for Plowman Craven and since has ridden for Endura, Rapha Condor; and for 2014 he joins new – and much talked about – NFTO. ‘Not For The Ordinary’ is an outdoor clothing company based in Hereford with ex-military man John Wood behind it.

Scottish veteran James McCallum is relishing the opportunity to race on front of a home crowd when the second Revolution Series event of the season is held in Glasgow on November 30. The 34-year-old sealed overall victory for Rapha Condor-JLT at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome alongside Olympic champion Ed Clancy last season.

James McCallum has been at it again; winning, that is – the 46th edition of the Davie Bell Memorial road race in Ayrshire, which was round four of the Scottish Power Renewables Super Six Series. It was a third successive win in the series for the Rapha Condor-Sharp rider.

Scotland’s great performances at the Commonwealth Games Velodrome didn’t get the attention they merited. James McCallum came back with a bronze medal from the 20 Kilometer Scratch, making a mockery of those who felt he wasn’t worthy of selection.
