Nicole got a taste of cycling in Melbourne during last year’s Commonwealth Games and came away impressed. She thinks that the UK should follow the lead of countries like Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Australia by building bike paths and encouraging people to use them for short journeys.

One of the hot favourites for the road race is the Welsh rider Nicole Cooke. There isn't much this young lady hasn't won having been twice World Road Cup champion, Tour de France and Tour of Italy champion and already having won Silver and Bronze medals in the World Championship Road Race to go with her Golds in the Junior event.
