Julian Dean hasn't had many kisses from the podium girls in his pro career. For the New Zealand-born sprinter, though, this year's Tour de France saw him come tantalizingly close, and next year's move to the Slipstream squad could see a whole bunch more kisses on the podium for the Kiwi Champ.

While this has proven elusive thus far, New Zealand's top road cyclist has confirmed his reputation as one of the most reliable and talented sprint lead-out men around. From humble beginnings as a professional in the US to racing for Lance and George on US Postal before a successful 2003 with CSC, Dean now races with Thor Hushovd and Jan Kirsipuu on French Pro Tour team Credit Agricole.
