Two years ago, Liam Killeen was just a small step away from joining the top ranks of cross-country mountain biking. The 25-year-old Brit had a breakthrough 2006, winning the Commonwealth Games and the Sea Otter Classic, and regularly duking it out with Absalon and Hermida in the World Cup.

The name Liam Killeen may not be on the lips of every sports fan as we approach Beijing in 2008, but this young man has done much to raise the profile of mountain biking in the UK in the last couple of years, due to his natural talent coupled with his dogged determination and a genuine love for cycling.

Commonwealth champion Liam Killeen has been in the spot-light for his international off-road achievements but us 'roadies' had a few things to ask him at the 2007 Specialized launch.
