Ilnur Zakarin è tornato a casa. Lo scioglimento della CCC ha fatto sì che il trentunenne originario del Tatarstan, nel bel mezzo della Russia, tornasse a vestire la casacca della Gazprom RusVelo, già indossata per due annate nel 2013 e nel 2014, quando ancora non era conosciuto dal grande pubblico.

Alastair Hamilton managed to catch up with Ilnur in Spain before he flew off to start the UAE Tour, to hear all his plans for 2020 and the future, including the Olympics.

Malgré la barrière de la langue, Ilnur Zakarin a eu la gentillesse de répondre une nouvelle fois aux questions de notre rédaction. Avec nous, il a effectué le bilan d'une saison 2016 qu'il ne juge pas satisfaisante, et ce pour plusieurs raisons. Par ailleurs, nous souhaitons également remercier Viacheslav Kuznetsov, qui a fait office de traducteur Russe/Anglais pour nous.

But when he won that race overall — beating Chris Froome, Nairo Quintana, Vincenzo Nibali, among many other big names — and followed up with a stage win at the Giro d’Italia, it became impossible to ignore the lanky, enigmatic Russian.
