On Sunday we all watched and listened to the USA Pro Cycling Challenge which was a celebration of Jens Voigt's final race of his illustrious career. But there was another rider in the peloton who was also competing his final race; Ben Day. As Jane Aubrey writes, Day's career was filled with talent, glory and mishaps that took him a down a different path.

One year ago, Ben Day was sitting on the top of the moon. His long-time dream of racing in Europe at the top-level seemed to be within his grasp with the Pegasus Sports project and he was about to embark on a very successful season with his Fly V Australia team.
