World and Olympic champion Jamie Staff ahead of the Track Cycling World Cup Classic in Melbourne.

Jamie Staff began his career riding BMX, but aspired to win an Olympic medal. As it was not yet an Olympic sport at that point, Staff turned to the track and qualified instantly for the GB Cycling Team, going on to win a gold in the team pursuit at the 2002 Worlds.

What ever happens on the track next Wednesday at the UCI World Track Championships, Jamie Staff has already won a huge battle just to be at the Championships. Staff gambled on chasing a spot in the Team Sprint as his sole event and that gamble has paid off.
