It was no mere coincidence that Joaqium "Purito" Rodriguez won the UCI trophy making him number 1 pro rider in the world in 2012. He won, among other things, Flèche Wallone and the Tour of Lombardy and is also well fired up for the spring classics in 2013. Following a crash at the Amstel Gold Race it was unclear for several days whether he would be able to start at Flèche Wallone. However all the uncertainty was short lived. Purito will be lining up for the event in the Ardennes on Wednesday and have his sights firmly set on retaining the number 1 spot in the world pro ranking.
