Au détour du quartier général du comité Rhône-Alpes, dans la zone technique des Championnats de France de cyclo-cross, Patrice Halgand s'affaire autour des jeunes coureurs de son comité régional. Depuis cet hiver, il encadre les jeunes dans le cadre de sa formation au Brevet d'Etat.

Francis Mourey (Française des Jeux), déjà titré en 2005, 2007 et 2008, a conservé son titre de champion de France de cyclo-cross en devançant Steve Chainel (Bouygues Telecom) au sprint, au terme d'une course très tactique, sur le circuit de Coët-Roz à Pontchateau.
