Now 34, Karsten Kroon is back from a horrific crash in last year’s Flèche Wallonne to give the classics one more run. Above all, he’d love to win Amstel Gold Race, where he’s considered an expert on the twisting, climbing route through Holland’s Limburg region.

Karsten Kroon transferred from The Netherland's Rabobank to Denmark's Team CSC in 2006, as he wanted to become a team leader. With those two Dutch Rabobank heroes, Erik Dekker and Michael Boogerd, gone the crowds will need a new champion and they don't need to look too far for that.

De komende weken staan voor wielrenner Karsten Kroon geheel in het teken van een voor hem nieuwe rol: kandidaat voor de overwinning in de voorjaarsklassiekers. Bij zijn nieuwe werkgever CSC krijgt Kroon de ruimte en mag hij meedoen voor de overwinning. En dat geeft vertrouwen:
