The start of 2015 saw Nathan Van Hooydonck – who previously rode for Bissell Development Team – begin his spell with BMC Development, where he quickly integrated in the team’s highly structured program. Although hindered by bad luck in the first part of the season, when he missed on two of his main goals of the season – Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix – the young and talented Belgian didn’t give up and took every race as a learning curve. The 20-year-old kept working hard and rekindled his motivation, and this eventually led to his first victory, which was scored in Neufvilles and signaled a turning point in Nathan’s season.

Nathan Van Hooydonck is a big cycling talent from Belgium. He is a real winner and especially the races in Belgium suit his characteristics very well. In 2013 Nathan finished 2nd in Paris – Roubaix (juniors) and 4th in the Tour of Flanders (juniors). He proved his talent for the cobbled classics with these results and he showed he might have the same potential as his uncle Edwig Van Hooydonck had for the classics. In 2014 Nathan Van Hooydonck will ride for the Bissell Development team where he hopes to keep developing as a cyclist.

At the beginning of the ‘90s, Edwig Van Hooydonck was one of the best Classics riders in the pro peloton, winning the Tour of Flanders and Brabantse Pijl after some wonderful performances. Two decades later, another member of the Van Hooydonck family is prepared to have his name engraved on the Honour Roll of the cobbled Classics. He is Nathan Van Hooydonck and he made sure of showing his potential in a couple of races from the Junior ranks, before passing to the U23 level, in 2014.
