As this piece goes to press, the Tour of America’s Dairyland is being battled out up in Wisconsin, with those United Healthcare boys running riot, as usual. But who’s the man behind what is now one of the USA’s best run and supported race series? If you’re of an age when you can remember those upstart 7-11 boys crossing the Atlantic and upsetting the Euro equilibrium then you’ll remember Tom Schuler – he’s your man. We caught up with him during the Tour of America’s Dairyland (TOAD) p/b Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (one of the longer race titles out there) to get his memories of those heady 80’s days and his contribution to US cycling since then.
