Ian Boswell recalled how, with all his cycling dreams still all ahead of him as a kid, he would pedal up the hills near his Oregon home in his “stupid” yellow jersey on his cool pink and blue Alamo bike and would shout to his brother to look at him “flying like Lance”.

Si les talents sur la route du Tour de l’Avenir sont nombreux, rare sont ceux qui peuvent se vanter d’avoir fait une grosse impression chez les pros. Ian Bowsell est l’un d’eux. 5e du dernier Tour de l’Utah devant certains clients et spécialités comme Levi Leipheimer, Chris Horner ou encore Christian Vandevelde, tout récent vainqueur du Tour du Colorado. Une performance qui n’aura bien évidemment laissé personne indifférent bien que son talent soit reconnu depuis longtemps. Les grosses armadas se l’arrachent, mais Boswell n’a pas encore fait son choix. Le jeune étatsunien débarque donc sur le Tour de l’Avenir en grande forme et dans le costume de favori. Avant d’attaquer les choses sérieuses, Cyclism’Actu est allé à sa rencontre.

Fan inconditionnel du Tour de l'Avenir qu'il a déjà couru deux fois, Ian Boswell sera leader de l'équipe américaine cette année. Avec un seul objectif : la victoire finale. Déterminé et toutefois posé, il sort d'un excellent Tour de l'Utah. 5e au classement général, il finit devant Levi Leipheimer et Chris Horner.
